Xiaomi Yi 4k+ setup instructions

This tutorial shows how to connect a Xiaomi Yi 4k+ camera with the Webcam Tool for Action Cameras.

Important: Make sure that the Xiaomi Yi 4k+ is updated to firmware 1.14 or newer.

 

1. Select Xioami Yi4k+ RTMP as source.
2. Press the Start server button (required only once).
3. Press the Xiaomi Yi QR button. The following dialog will popup:

 

1. Enter your WiFi network name.
2. Enter your WiFi network's password.
3. Select a bit rate mode (3 is the best bit rate mode with the current Xiaomi Yi 4k+ firmware).
4. Press the Generate QR code button.

 

Now start your Xiaomi Yi 4k+ camera and select Live:

 

Then scan the QR code with your Xiaomi Yi camera shown on your computer screen:

After around 30-60 seconds the Xiaomi Yi 4k+ should be connected to the WiFi network and streaming. If the connection fails then you can try to generate a QR code either with the Xiaomi Yi App or on this website.

 

Next we start the webcam:

1. Make sure that the Low latency mode is selected.
2. Optional: Press the Determine from source button if you want to change the resolution.
3. Press the Start button in the webcam section.
4. The Xiaomi Yi 4k+ is now ready to be used as a webcam.
