The video resolution of different camera models is listed here.
The video stream delay of different camera models is listed here. The delay is affected by the WiFi signal quality and number of connected devices. Also, we noticed different latency between various WLAN adapter manufacturers.
Many cameras create their own WiFi network. In this case you have to use a LAN cable, a second WiFi adapter, or a LTE connection for internet access. Take a look at this table which shows if you need a second adapter for the internet connection.
Although we have successfully tested the tool with GoPro Hero 4 and Hero 4 Session cameras these cameras are officially not supported due to streaming problems and low video quality.
GoPro Hero 3 cameras are not supported.
The webcam tool supports only one camera at the same time.
Please use 3rd party apps (for instance Camera Suite for GoPro) for changing the camera settings.
The WiFi of GoPro Hero 8 and GoPro Max cameras has to be manually activated. This can either be done with the original GoPro iOS/Android app, or with the WiFi Connector app.
macOS sends applications into a sleep state when they are in background. Please disable the sleep state for the webcam tool by entering "defaults write com.gopro2webcam.vcamtool NSAppSleepDisabled -bool YES" into a terminal window (without quotes).
